Early Childhood Education tests: Birth–PreK and Age 3–Age 8

Two National Evaluation Series early childhood education tests have replaced the NMTA Assessment of Teacher Competency—Early Childhood test.

As of December 4, 2017, New Mexico candidates seeking the Early Childhood Education Birth–Age 3 or Early Childhood Education Age 3–Age 8 license must take the NES test that aligns to the license they are seeking.

The two new NES tests are:

  • NES Early Childhood Education (Birth–Prekindergarten)
  • NES Early Childhood Education (Age 3–Age 8)
For further information about which tests to take, please contact the New Mexico Public Education Department.
